Greece and Egypt combined tours from Magnificent Travel cover Athens, Santorini, Cairo, the Giza Pyramids, Luxor, and a Nile cruise in itineraries running 10 to 14 days. Every package includes a licensed guide in both countries, hotel and Nile cruise cabin accommodation with daily breakfast, entrance fees, private vehicle transfers, and the international flight between Athens and Cairo. Private tours depart on your chosen dates; small group options follow fixed schedules.

Greece and Egypt together span the two civilisations that most directly shaped Western education, law, and philosophy. Athens produced the Parthenon (438 BC), democracy, and the Platonic academy. Egypt produced the Great Pyramid of Khufu (completed around 2560 BC) and a continuous literary and artistic tradition running for 3,000 years. The flight from Athens to Cairo takes 2 hours 15 minutes.

Why Greece and Egypt Work Together

Greece provides island scenery, Classical archaeology, and Mediterranean coastal experiences. Egypt provides the Nile as a navigable travel corridor, Pharaonic temples at continental scale, and the only intact ancient wonder of the world. The two countries sit at opposite ends of the Eastern Mediterranean. A combined tour moves from blue-domed Cycladic architecture to limestone canyon temples in a 10 to 14-day circuit that shares no monument type or landscape.

What Each Country Covers

Greece (Days 1 to 5)

Athens is the entry point. The Acropolis and Parthenon with a licensed archaeologist guide, the New Acropolis Museum (Parthenon frieze sections, opened 2009), the Agora, and the Plaka district make up 2 nights in Athens. A short flight or high-speed ferry (7 hours) connects Athens to Santorini for 2 to 3 nights: Oia village and its caldera views, a boat cruise around the caldera, and the Akrotiri Bronze Age excavation site. Mykonos can be added for 1 to 2 additional nights on longer packages.

Egypt (Days 6 to 10 or 14)

Cairo receives packages for 2 days. The Giza Pyramid Complex (Great Pyramid at 138.8 metres, world's tallest structure for 3,800 years), the Sphinx, and the Grand Egyptian Museum (100,000 artefacts, full Tutankhamun collection, opened 2023) form the Cairo program. A domestic flight or train to Luxor begins the Nile section. The standard Nile cruise from Luxor to Aswan covers Karnak Temple (200 hectares), Valley of the Kings (63 tombs), Edfu, Kom Ombo, and the Temple of Philae over 3 to 4 days.

Suggested Route and Duration

10 days: Athens (2 nights) + Santorini (2 nights) + Cairo (2 nights) + Nile cruise Luxor to Aswan (4 nights). Covers core highlights of both countries.

12 days: Adds Mykonos (2 nights), or Abu Simbel and more time in Luxor in Egypt.

14 days: Full Greek island circuit with Mykonos and 2 additional days in Egypt for Abu Simbel and the Red Sea.

Getting Between Greece and Egypt

Direct flights from Athens (ATH) to Cairo (CAI) take approximately 2 hours 15 minutes and operate daily. This connection is included in the package price.

Best Time to Travel

March through May and October through November suit both countries. Greece's Acropolis avoids summer heat and Santorini ferry bookings are available. Egypt's outdoor temple sites are comfortable in spring temperatures (18 to 28 degrees Celsius). July and August: the Acropolis exceeds 38 degrees and Luxor and Aswan reach 44 to 48 degrees. December through January is Egypt's peak season; book well in advance.
