Egypt tour packages from Magnificent Travel cover Cairo, the Giza Pyramids, Luxor, Aswan, Abu Simbel, and the Nile in itineraries running from 5 to 10 days. Every package includes a licensed Egyptologist guide, hotel accommodation, a Nile cruise or Nile-side hotel stay depending on route, entrance fees, and private vehicle transfers. Private tours run on your chosen dates; small group departures run on fixed schedules.

Egypt holds seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the Memphis area with the Pyramids of Giza and Sphinx, and Nubian Monuments from Abu Simbel to Philae. The Giza Pyramid Complex is the only surviving structure of the original Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The Grand Egyptian Museum, which opened in 2023 near the Giza Plateau, is the largest archaeological museum in the world and houses the complete Tutankhamun collection.

Egypt's Main Destinations and Sites

Cairo and Giza

Cairo and Giza are the starting point for every Egypt tour. The Pyramids of Giza sit 12 km southwest of central Cairo. The Great Pyramid of Khufu was the world's tallest structure for over 3,800 years, reaching 138.8 metres. The Sphinx, carved from a single limestone outcrop, measures 73 metres long and 20 metres tall. The Grand Egyptian Museum near the pyramids holds the entire 5,398-piece Tutankhamun collection, previously split between multiple storage facilities.

Luxor

Luxor is built directly over the ancient city of Thebes, Egypt's capital during the New Kingdom period. The Karnak Temple Complex covers 200 hectares and took approximately 2,000 years to build and expand. The Valley of the Kings on the west bank of the Nile contains 63 known royal tombs; Tutankhamun's tomb (KV62) is among the most visited. The Temple of Luxor on the east bank is connected to Karnak by a 3-km Avenue of Sphinxes restored and reopened in 2021.

Aswan

Aswan sits 900 km south of Cairo on the Nile's first cataract. The High Dam, completed in 1970, created Lake Nasser, one of the world's largest artificial reservoirs. The Temple of Philae, relocated to Agilkia Island in 1980 to save it from rising lake waters, is one of the last temples built in the classical Egyptian style and contains carvings from the Ptolemaic and Roman periods.

Abu Simbel

Abu Simbel is 280 km south of Aswan. The two rock temples were built by Ramesses II between 1264 and 1244 BC. Both temples were cut from the mountainside and relocated between 1964 and 1968 to save them from Lake Nasser flooding. The main temple has a solar alignment that illuminates the inner sanctuary on 22 February and 22 October each year. Most packages reach Abu Simbel by a 45-minute flight from Aswan.

The Nile Cruise

The Nile Cruise between Luxor and Aswan covers 220 km and takes 3 to 4 days depending on the vessel and number of shore stops. Standard Nile cruises include full board on board, Egyptologist guide throughout, and entrance fees to all sites visited from the river. The most visited stops between Luxor and Aswan include Edfu (Temple of Horus), Kom Ombo (Temple of Sobek and Horus), and Esna (Temple of Khnum).

Choosing the Right Egypt Itinerary

Five-day packages cover Cairo and Giza only, or Cairo and a quick connection to Luxor. Eight-day packages are the most popular length and fit Cairo, the Pyramids, a Luxor day, and a 3 to 4-day Nile cruise between Luxor and Aswan. Ten-day packages add Abu Simbel, more time in Luxor, or a Red Sea resort day at the end.

Combining Egypt with Other Destinations

Egypt connects directly with Jordan and Israel for multi-country itineraries. Egypt, Jordan, and Israel combined tours  cover the Pyramids, Petra, Wadi Rum, and Jerusalem in approximately 14 to 17 days. For a larger Mediterranean circuit, Greece and Egypt tours link Athens and the Greek islands with Cairo and the Nile. The Turkey and Egypt combined itinerary connects Istanbul and Cappadocia with the Pyramids and Luxor in 10 to 14 days. The Turkey, Greece, and Egypt tour covers all three countries for travelers wanting a full Eastern Mediterranean circuit.

Best Time to Visit Egypt

October through April is the most comfortable period for sightseeing in Egypt. Temperatures in Cairo and Luxor range from 18 to 28 degrees Celsius. The Valley of the Kings and outdoor temple sites are manageable in this period without severe heat.

May through September: Luxor and Aswan reach 40 to 48 degrees Celsius in July. The Giza plateau is exposed and can reach 38 degrees in summer. If you travel in summer, all outdoor sites should be visited before 9 am and after 4 pm. December through January is Egypt's peak tourist season. Book Nile cruise cabins and Cairo hotels 3 to 4 months in advance for December travel.
